City Rejects Stock Ranch Nature Preserve Bid, Advises Revisal

The lowest bid exceeded the available funding for the project, according to city officials.

Momentum toward revitalizing the Stock Ranch Nature Preserve has stalled in the face of bids too expensive to meet funding for the project.

The original bids for the Stock Ranch Nature Preserve Project were received on March 5, 2013, according to a City of Citrus Heights Planning Commission staff report:

Following the bid opening, staff determined the scope of work would need to be adjusted to conform to the available funding – staff believes rejecting all bids and re-advertising the project is the best approach.

Following that determination the council advised project coordinators to re-advertise the project, according to the report, noting the possible nominal fiscal impact associated with that type of action. The costs would be paid for by a 2011 California Department of Parks and Recreation grant awarded to the City to promote nature education.

A total of two bids were received, of which the lowest was McGuire Pacific Contractors, Inc., according to the staff report.
