The fire broke out Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. at a Greenback Lane apartment unit.

Citrus Heights families from six apartment units are looking for new homes after a fire Wednesday night displaced them.

The fire broke out at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 7700 block of Greenback Lane, according to the Sac Metro Fire Department. A witness reported seeing flames from within the apartment window.

While the firefighters kept the fire contained to one unit, five other units suffered from smoke and water damage. Now renters living in all six units have been displaced.
