Metro Fire: Quick Response Saves Citrus Heights Apartment Complex from Kitchen Fire
Metro Fire officials estimate the rapid response prevented more than $400,000 in damages.
Sacramento Metro Fire officials are crediting quick response with the prevention of a fire gutting a Citrus Heights apartment complex Monday.
The fire ignited some time just before noon, according to a Metro Fire press release, on the 5800 block of Sunrise Vista Drive. Engine and truck crews arrived on the scene of the fire and initiated an evacuation and search for victims while battling the blaze. Fire officials noted the fire was primarily contained to the kitchen area, with some extension into the attic.

The unite where the fire started sustained the majority of damage, offiicals said, "with only minor fire extension to the second floor exterior, and water damage to the unit below. Residents of both units were displaced."
"Without focused firefighting, the fire could have rapidly spread to the seven adjoining units," according to the press release.

Metro Fire officials estimated crews saved the apartment complex $400,000 in potential damages.
No firefighters or civilians were injured and cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking.
