Police Arrest Third Suspect in Citrus Heights Murder

Suspect Andrew Les Johnson was arrested in connection with the murder of a Citrus Heights man in January.

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 52-year-old Citrus Heights man in January.

From Citrus Heights Police:

Andrew Les Johnson
(28 years old) of Citrus Heights was arrested in San Diego by a San Diego Police officer on Friday, May 17.  Johnson was the last outstanding suspect wanted in connection with the murder of 52-year-old Jack Swaim at his home in Citrus Heights on January 5, 2013.  Johnson has been transported and booked into the Sacramento County jail, pending court hearings.

In addition to Johnson, the following subjects have also been charged in this case by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and remain in custody pending further court proceedings:
Christopher Langlois, 29 years old of Orangevale
Jeffrey Douglas Powell, 30 years old of Sacramento

The Citrus Heights Police Department would like to recognize assistance provided by allied agencies throughout this investigation.  CHPD would like to recognize the assistance provided by members of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, the Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento Crime Alert, and lastly the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force-Sacramento.  CHPD enlisted the Marshals Service early in this investigation when it became clear Johnson had left the area and was receiving assistance from others in order to flee.  Task Force personnel contributed hundreds of man hours to this investigation conducting surveillance and search operations for the suspects in this case.

Because this is a matter which has been charged by the District Attorney’s office we cannot comment specifically on the facts of the case.  We can report this was not a random crime and we believe Mr. Swaim was an unintended and innocent victim.  Any further questions related to this matter should be directed to the District Attorney’s Office.
