Soles4Souls Shoe Donation Drop-Offs Set Up in Sac County

There are 23 drop-off stations set up within Sacramento County. Donations are accepted through Sept. 30.

Every shoe donated during a Sacramento County Soles4Souls donation drive will go to someone in need.

If you have a pair (or single shoe) of shoes, gently- or well-worn, you'd like to get rid of, consider dropping them off at one of the 23 locations in Sacramento County as part of a month-long campaign.

The donation drive is a collaborative effort among Sacramento County's Waste Management and Recycling department, Soles4Souls, “Keep California Beautiful,” and STORAGEPRO. Their goal is to recycle 25,000 pairs of shoes by Sept. 30.

According to Sacramento County:

Soles4Souls accepts all types of shoes:  athletic, running, dress, sandals, pumps, heels, work boots, cleats, dance, and flip flops.

Americans buy 2.3 million pairs of shoes a day - enough to cover the bottom of a 17-acre closet with shoe boxes.  According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, Americans throw away at least 300 million pairs of shoes each year.

The donated shoes will be used to help individuals in need.  Soles4Souls distributes the reusable shoes worldwide. The unusable footwear is recycled which keeps them out of the landfill reducing the strain on the environment.
