A residential burglary alarm was set off around 20 minutes later in the 4100 block of New Hampshire Avenue — less than two miles away, police said. A white SUV was spotted leaving the area. Officers followed the SUV in an unmarked vehicle, police said.

Claremont police followed the SUV on the westbound 210 Freeway and the southbound 605 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol was called to set up a traffic stop for the SUV, which the SUV evaded, police said.

Police pursued the SUV as it traveled onto the westbound 105 Freeway and attempted to exit at the Bellflower Boulevard freeway exit in Downey when the SUV collided with another vehicle and rolled over, Claremont police said. The SUV's driver attempted to run away; three passengers remained in the SUV. Officers arrested the driver and the three people in the SUV. It's unclear who was the driver.

Police found property in the SUV from the New Hampshire Road house, including a large safe, as well as items believed to be from another house in Chino Hills, police said.
