LA VERNE, CA — Police were investigating separate incidents Wednesday in which two people were shot at by someone with a BB gun in La Verne.

Neither of the unidentified people reported any injuries from the shooting, according to police.

The first shooting occurred around 6:40 p.m. as a man was walking on Esperanza Drive near Golden Hills Road, according to the La Verne Police Department. A short time later, a woman called to report that she was also shot at by someone with a BB gun while she walked on Wheeler Avenue near Ruggles Street, only a mile from where the man was shot.

Both people told police that three or four young men in a white four-door sedan, possibly a BMW or Lexus, shot at them.

Similar incidents have been reported across the Southland in which nearly 60 cars traveling on a freeway were pelted by BB or pellet-gun fire. Authorities have not said if the La Verne shootings are connected to the freeway incidents.
