Claremont Businesswoman and Activist Named 'Woman of the Year'
Zephyr Tate-Mann was named 'Woman of the Year' by Assemblyman Chris Holden, who represents Claremont.
Assemblymember Chris Holden, who represents communities including Pasadena, Altadena, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, Monrovia, La Verne and Claremont, has named two women in the 41st Assembly District as “Women of the Year.”
“Our state boasts a rich history of women who have made lasting contributions to their communities and state through their public spirit and activism,” said Assemblymember Holden in a statement.
Holden chose Rachael Worby and Zephyr Tate-Mann and provided the following information on each of their contributions:

Zephyr Tate-Mann has enjoyed a lifetime of success in her many endeavors. She is the owner of a Claremont construction and investment firm, a lawyer and a community activist. In 2012 she was appointed to the California Earthquake Authority by Governor Jerry Brown. She is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Pomona Valley Human Relations Council and is active in many civic groups including the American Business Women Association, Black Women Lawyers Association and NAACP.
Rachael Worby is the Artistic Director and Conductor of MUSE/IQUE – a new take on the civic orchestra. As one of the first women conductors in the country, Ms. Worby is known for her exuberant style and wide range of musical styles and her dedication to spreading music throughout the community. Prior to starting MUSE/IQUE, she served for many years as Music Director of the Pasadena Pops Orchestra where she expanded outreach programs to underserved communities. As a guest conductor, Rachael Worby has led orchestras throughout the world and continues to spread music throughout Southern California, fostering new generations of music lovers.
