Food insecurity worsened during the coronavirus with NPR reporting that as many as 23 percent of households across the United States had limited access to food. With millions of Americans out of work during the early days of the pandemic, lines at food pantries became longer and longer.
Some drive-thru food banks in the country even stretched for more than a mile. One food bank in Anaheim saw the line stretch onto a nearby freeway, according to Mother Jones.
