Heatwave Hits Claremont, La Verne: 4-Day Forecast
It's going to get hot this weekend, with temperatures rising Saturday and Sunday in most communities. How hot will it get?
CLAREMONT, CA — A Southland heat wave will get underway Friday, and temperatures will hit the 90s in some L.A. County and Orange County communities.
Temperatures will be 10-15 degrees above normal in valley areas of L.A. County and around 5 degrees above the average closer to the coast, said National Weather Service meteorologist Robbie Munroe from his base in Oxnard.
His counterpart in San Diego, Miguel Miller, said inland Orange County highs Friday would be 15-18 degrees above normal while highs along the Orange County coast will be 5-7 degrees above average.

Munroe and Miller attributed the heat spike to a ridge of high pressure. Munroe said he expects nothing exciting about the weather until a possible wind event next week. Miller said he doesn't expect this heat wave to create unusually dangerous conditions.
The NWS forecast sunny skies in L.A County Friday and highs of 74 degrees in Avalon and at LAX; 77 on Mount Wilson; 82 in Downtown L.A.; 84 in Long Beach; 86 in San Gabriel; 87 in Burbank and Palmdale; 88 in Pasadena and Lancaster; 89 in Saugus; and 93 in Woodland Hills.
Orange County was also forecast to have sunny weather, along with highs of 69 in Newport Beach; 72 in San Clemente; 73 in Laguna Beach; 87 in Anaheim and Irvine; 90 in Fullerton; and 91 in Mission Viejo and Yorba Linda.
