High Surf, High Temps Continue For SGV: Claremont
South facing beaches expected sets of up to 8-feet through late Tuesday. High temperatures expected to roast inland San Gabriel Valley.

CLAREMONT, CA —High surf continued to pound the Southland coast Tuesday, creating perilous conditions for swimmers and surfers amid continuing high heat.
The high surf is the result of a long-period swell that won't dissipate until late Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A high surf advisory that began Monday will be in effect until 8 p.m. in L.A. and Orange counties.

Forecasters said surf of between 4 and 7 feet would pound the shore, along with sets of up to 8 feet through Tuesday evening.
"There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore," warned an NWS statement. "Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."
