Is Your Company Swimming In A Blue Ocean or a Red One?
Drucker Day 2017 at CGU will feature keynotes by management visionary Renée Mauborgne and Marketplace's Deborah Clark

Claremont, Calif. -- Blue and red oceans? What is that all about?
This year's Drucker Day 2017 keynoter Renée Mauborgne and her co-author created a business strategy model that is based on the idea of "survival of the fittest" in the ocean.
An ocean of hungry predators turns the water red because of ferocious competition; a blue ocean, though, is an uncontested space in which a company swims easily and captures markets without the same cutthroat fighting.

Mauborgne's vision of developing high-performance strategies for companies kicks off this year's Drucker Day 2017: "The Drucker Path -- Past, Present, and Future" on November 4 at Claremont Graduate University.

This year's program invites attendees to walk "the Drucker Path" -- looking back on the achievements of Peter Drucker, the "father of modern management" who taught at CGUuntil his death in 2005, as well as considering new applications of his timeless principles.
In addition to remarks by Mauborgne, Drucker Day attendees will also hear keynote remarks from Deborah Clark, who oversees the suite of public radio broadcasts produced by Marketplace, which reaches more than 14 million listeners on a weekly basis.
Other Drucker Day highlights
Esteemed scholar, author, and Drucker emeritus professor Joseph Maciariello will also be on hand. Maciariello was far more than Peter Drucker's colleague--together they collaborated on several landmark books (including The Effective Executive in Action), and Maciariello went on to steward Drucker's legacy by revising two seminal works, Management and Management Cases.
For his critical service to the Drucker legacy, Maciariello will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additional events include talks and tours about:
- The Claremont Game Lab (where students take video game production from concept to marketing) and the new Customer Lab (where customer needs play an even more centralized role in product creation)
- The nature of disruption: What do we really mean when we talk about "disruption" in business?
- The Zen of Drucker: Why are more management environments supporting mindfulness training?
- And much more.
The day's program also features a delicious lunch and cocktail networking reception as well as a special photo booth, raffles, and signed copies of Mauborgne's latest book (with co-author w. Chan Kim), Blue Ocean Shift: Beyond Competing--Proven Steps to Inspire Confidence and Seize New Growth.
