Almost Everyone's Got a Job In Clayton
The city has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state at 1.7 percent.

Claytonians have the third lowest unemployment rate in California at just 1.7 percent, according to figures recently released by the state's Employment Development Department. The quaint city of Ferndale is number two at 1.6 percent and Carmel-by-the-Sea is number one at 1.4 percent. Clayton is the largest city in the top five for lowest unemployment rate.
There are around 11,318 Clayton residents, according to Census Bureau estimates for 2012, and 6,400 of the 6,600 in the labor force are employed.
