Concord’s Arbor Day Celebration will be held Saturday, April 20 at 1:30 p.m., at Ygnacio Valley Park in association with Earth Day. The public is invited to attend. Parks staff will team up with Cub Scout Pack 380, Girl Scout Troop 31941 and community volunteers to plant seven trees in the park, which is located on Oak Grove Road at David Ave.
Concord has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the 32 consecutive years, and has won that organization’s Growth Award for 15 years. Concord has the most combined number of Tree City and Growth Awards of any California city.

“Trees in our cities and towns help clean the air, conserve soil and water, moderate temperature and bring nature into our daily lives,” said John Rosenow, Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Tree City USA designation recognizes the work of elected officials, staff and citizens who plant and care for the community forest.”
