Arrest Made In Fatal Shooting: Antioch Police

Police say the suspect was apprehended at a home not far from where the victim was found on a sidewalk.

ANTIOCH, CA —A 45-year-old man was shot and killed in Antioch on Monday afternoon and a 33-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the slaying, according to police. The shooting was reported at 3:09 p.m. in the 100 block of E. 16th Street, police said. Kimball Elementary School is nearby.

Officers arrived on the scene to find Antioch man Juan Zambrano suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim was transported to a hospital where he died, police said.

An investigation determined the shooting occurred at a home not far from where the victim was found on the sidewalk. Police found the suspect, 33-year-old Arnulfo Coronado of Antioch, in the home along with evidence connecting him to the shooting.

Police said a firearm was located and a large amount of heroin and methamphetamine was found on Coronado himself.

Coronado was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on $1-million bail.
