Body Found Of Boater Who Went Missing In Indian Slough: Sheriff
U.S. Coast Guard and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office searched for the man whose inflatable boat sank near Bay Point.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The body of a man who went missing after his inflatable boat sank in the Indian Slough, off the Bay Point waterfront, early Sunday morning, was recovered nearby Tuesday afternoon, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
Efren Cruz-Rodriguez, a 34-year-old resident of Oakland, was reported missing just after 2:15 a.m. Sunday. He was fishing with a friend when their boat malfunctioned. The survivor swam to shore, but Cruz-Rodriguez didn't make it back.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded, searching with boats and aircraft alongside personnel from the sheriff's office, but the search was temporarily suspended over Sunday and Monday nights.

Just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, marine units responded to a private dock behind a home in the 200 block of Discovery Bay Boulevard on a report of a body floating in the water.
An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning, and the victim's official cause of death is listed as drowning, according to the coroner's office.
