Brush Fire Contained After Threatening Antioch Homes

Con Fire dispatched extra resources to protect the homes, and crews were able to stop the forward progress of the blaze.

ANTIOCH, CA — A vegetation fire in Antioch has been contained after initially threatening some nearby homes Monday afternoon, a fire spokesman said.

The fire was reported at about 1:20 p.m. by multiple callers who said vegetation and trees were on fire near multi-family homes on Covelite Way, located just west of Country Manor Park, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman Steve Hill said.

The fire district dispatched extra resources to protect the homes, and crews were able to stop the forward progress of the blaze as of 1:47 p.m., Hill said.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, he said.

Crews remained at the scene to make sure the fire didn't re-ignite, Hill said.
