Temperatures are on the rise, with the hottest day of the week forecast for Thursday when Concord is expected to see a high of 107 degrees!

To help residents stay cool, the City will open the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle, as a Cooling Center on Wednesday, June 16, and Thursday, June 17, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The entrance to the Cooling Center will be on the west side of the building, and all CDC precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission will be in effect, including the use of face coverings and social distancing.

With Tuesday’s official “reopening” of California, many other cool spots around town are increasing their capacity. Be sure to check out:

  • Sunvalley Shopping Center
  • Brenden Concord Theater
  • Veranda LUXE Cinema & IMAX
  • Meadow Homes Spray Park (1351 Detroit Ave.), which reopens June 15 at noon

Make sure to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
