Cologne Thief Fires Gun At Mall: Concord Police

The thief filled a bag with cologne, then fired at security workers who tried to stop him, police said.

CONCORD, CA — Police have arrested a man suspected of firing a gun Friday night as he fled the Macy's store at Sun Valley Mall with more than $1,400 in cologne stolen from the department store.

Concord police said Jesse Allen Alexander, 37, filled a bag with bottles of cologne about 7 p.m. and then fired a shot at security workers when they tried to stop him. Nobody was hit by the shot, police said.

Alexander fled in a truck that was later located by Lafayette police, who arrested him after a foot chase, Concord police said.

Alexander was also wanted for violating his federal probation, police said.

Concord detectives will present the case to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.
