Concord Cop Collars Hawk
The police officer put the injured raptor in the back of his cruiser and drove it to Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek.
CONCORD, CA — An officer helped rescue an injured hawk Thursday in Concord, after a resident noticed the bird was unable to fly.
A resident in the 1800 block of Elkwood Drive first noticed the hawk was distressed after observing it on the ground, according to police.
The resident then flagged down an officer. The officer was able to contain the bird and put it in his patrol car.

The officer took the hawk to the hospital at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek, police said.
Veterinarians there determined the bird is a juvenile Red Tailed Hawk. The bird was suffering from malnourishment, an injured wrist, as well as parasites, according to police.

The hawk has been given medication and the hospital's staff is continuing to monitor the bird's progress, police said.
