Concord DUI Crash Claims Life Of Pittsburg Woman, 21
She died seven days after the collision on Highway 4, the Contra Costa County coroner's office says.

CONCORD, CA — A 21-year-old woman who died after a DUI crash on eastbound state Highway 4 in Concord last month has been identified as Yvonne Magdaleno of Pittsburg. Magdaleno died on March 30, seven days after the two-car crash that occurred shortly before 11:45 p.m. on March 23 on eastbound Highway 4 just west of Willow Pass Road, the Contra Costa County coroner's office confirmed.
Magdaleno was remembered on social media as a strong, loving mother and friend. Her mother set up a GoFundMe donation page for her funeral that as of Tuesday had raised more than $2,100.
Magdaleno was one of two passengers in a vehicle driven by Jose Amaya-Rivera, who was charged with murder, drunk driving and causing injury within 10 years of another DUI, driving and causing injury with a 0.8-percent blood alcohol content and driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.

He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility and his bail is set at $1.19 million.
Amaya-Rivera also suffered major injuries in the crash, but he was arrested and medically discharged on Saturday.

His arraignment is set for April 16, according to the district attorney's office.
