Concord Goes Under NWS Wind Advisory

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Contra Costa County and other parts of the Bay Area that are already at high risk for wildfires.

The advisory goes into effect at noon Monday and ends at 8 p.m.

Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, and gusts could top out at 55 mph according to the NWS.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, as of June 1, 94.6 percent of California is in a severe drought, 74.3 percent of the state is in an extreme drought and 24 percent of the state is experiencing "exceptional drought" conditions.
