Contra Costa Bar Owner Accused Of Operating Despite Health Order
The DA's Office alleges a Pittsburg bar owner not only violated the county's health order but was operating on a suspended alcohol license.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A Pittsburg woman was charged Monday on suspicion of operating her bar in violation of the county's coronavirus-related public health order, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office said.
Kimberly Beatrice Dixon, 52, the owner of Skorz Sports Bar, is accused of operating the bar at 3742 Railroad Ave. in Pittsburg while her alcohol license was suspended by the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control — ABC —board, the DA's Office said in a news release.
It is alleged that earlier this summer, on June 11, the bar was open and patrons were inside drinking alcohol.

"The bar was not deemed an essential business and therefore not allowed to be open," the DA's Office said. "Currently, bars are not allowed to be open to the public. Further, earlier this year, ABC suspended Dixon’s license for the failure to pay taxes."
The bartender at Skorz, Carla Kacprzak, was also charged on suspicion of a misdemeanor violation for the unlicensed sale of alcohol, the DA's Office said.

Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton said her office has received hundreds of complaints from the public reporting non-essential businesses operating during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"These businesses are putting the public’s health in jeopardy by violating the health officer orders," Becton said. "These orders are necessary to stop the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus. We will continue to investigate reports of violations of the health officer order."
Anyone with information about possible COVID-19 violations can report that information to the DA's Office by sending an email to DA-ReportFraud@contracostada.org.
