Crowne Plaza Donates 100 Meals Per Day To Residents In Need
Executive chef & crew from Crowne Plaza Concord/Walnut Creek prep the food, and hotel managers deliver to area organizations.
CONCORD, CA — The Crowne Plaza Concord/Walnut Creek has stepped up to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing 100 meals a day, five days a week, to local organizations serving families, children, seniors and homeless people.
The food is prepared and packaged Monday through Friday by hotel Executive Chef Derek Elam and his team, and is then delivered to the nonprofit groups by Crowne Plaza General Manager Chris Mellini and Anthony Chavarria, director of sales and marketing, according to VisitConcord officials.
Organizations on the receiving end of the donated meals are the Monument Crisis Center, a Concord-located resource center that serves families, children and seniors, Unity Council’s Head Start program that serves more than 900 families daily across Oakland and Concord, and Coordinated Outreach Referral Engagement, known as C.O.R.E., a program that works with homeless individuals in Contra Costa County.

Crowne Plaza plans to continue prepping, packaging and donating the meals for the next few weeks, at which time the program will be re-evaluated based on community needs, staff said.
