Earthquake Near Concord Rattles East Bay
The quake, which struck about a mile and half northwest of Concord, was felt by many in the East Bay — Did YOU feel it?

CONCORD, CA — A 2.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Concord late Tuesday night, rattling the East Bay, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor was recorded at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday about a mile and a half northwest of the city of Concord, the USGS said.
People across the East Bay reported experiencing some light shaking. According to responses submitted to the USGS, the quake was felt in Concord, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Pinole, Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Walnut Creek, El Cerrito, Moraga, Lafayette and Pittsburg.

Tuesday night's earthquake struck at a depth of 10 miles along the Concord-Green Valley Fault.
The USGS noted that in 2003, the Working Group for California Earthquake Probability assigned a 4 percent probability that the Concord-Green Valley Fault system would produce a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake within the next 30 years.
