Fatality Reported In 3-Vehicle Crash Near Byron

A box truck, flat-bed truck and at least one other vehicle collided, the California Highway Patrol said.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Vasco Road reopened at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday following a fatal collision involving at least three vehicles near the community of Byron in unincorporated Contra Costa County. One person died in the crash that was reported at 2:30 p.m. on northbound Vasco, just south of Camino Diablo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision involving a box truck, flat bed truck and at least one other vehicle left both lanes of Vasco Road blocked. As a result, Vasco was closed at Dalton Road near Livermore and a Sig-Alert was issued.

At around 4:15 p.m., traffic was backing up into Livermore, according to CHP dispatch logs.
