Heads Up, Concord Moms and Dads: 'Summer Fun Thursdays' To Launch At Sunvalley

Four Thursdays in July filled with fun for kids at the Concord shopping center.

Beginning July 9, Sunvalley Shopping Center will welcome families and visitors to kick off its inaugural “Summer Fun Thursdays.”

The month-long entertainment series aims to keep kids active, learning and engaged during the summer months.

Events will take place in Sunvalley’s Grand Court. Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to arrive early and register in advance. Complimentary gift bags will be provided to the first 100 children (12 and under) each week. Onsite registration opens at 12:30 p.m. and performances begin at 1 p.m.

The “Summer Fun Thursdays” line-up is suitable for children of all ages and will include:

• July 9: Mad Science of Mt. Diablo – Interactive presentation of fascinating science demonstrations. Each child takes home their own cup of “slime.”

• July 16: The Puppet Company – Puppet Circus featuring over 30 hand, rod and marionettes including clowns, a tight rope walking bear, elephants and lions.

• July 23: Cotton Candy Express – A fun musical extravaganza delivering positive messages through audience participation and sing-a-longs.

• July 30: Home Depot Kids Workshop – Activities to build a “Load ‘n Go Truck” (all materials provided). Each child receives a certificate of achievement, Workshop Apron and assembled truck.

The presenting sponsor for the summer entertainment series is John Muir Health. Other sponsors include Sutter Delta Medical Center and Bay Area Parent.
