'Hella Happy Holiday Special' To Benefit Monument Crisis Center

CONCORD, CA — A network of local, independent musicians known as Concord Couch Concerts — or CCC— will host a fundraiser for Monument Crisis Center at 8 p.m. Friday.

The event, a "Hella Happy Holiday Special," will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook. At least 19 acts are slated to perform, including Radiokeys, KAT van Morgan, Sabertooth Unicorn, STARLUNG, Fooling Marie, Duo Gadjo, and other popular local groups.

The CCC team has some experience with fundraising efforts as its first episode was also for charity; the May 1 event benefited the Concord Community Foundation.

“When imagining both events, we wanted to help the most vulnerable in our community," CCC Founder Dave Hughes said. "The choice to have Monument Crisis Center be the beneficiary this time around was a no-brainer, given how much they’ve been doing in our community all year."

Hughes went on to explain that unlike previous episodes, the holiday special will feature at least 19 performances.

"Instead of 10 or so artists playing for around 10 minutes each, we’re gonna have twice that playing for half the time," Hughes said. "It’ll be pretty nonstop from start-to-finish. All performances are holiday songs, half of them are originals, and the other half...well, they aren’t "Jingle Bells.'"

In another diversion from the usual CCC format, all artists involved in the holiday special will not be displaying their "tip jars" (PayPal/Venmo links) in a united effort to maximize funds raised exclusively for Monument Crisis Center. CCC’s hope is that anyone who might feel inclined to tip the artist will instead be a part of this community-driven fundraising effort.
