Know Any 'Clean Air' Community Champs? Nominees Sought For 'Spare The Air Leadership' Award

Local public agencies, non-profits, schools and businesses can be nominated for innovative efforts to cut pollution and promote clear air.

BAY AREA, CA – The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is sponsoring a new award in conjunction with the 2017 Acterra Business Environmental Awards: the Spare the Air Leadership Award.

The award will be given to a specific Bay Area air quality improvement project that has demonstrated significant leadership in a focused area, such as reducing air pollutants, greenhouse gases, pollution prevention or developed innovative approaches to cleaner air.

Any public agency, private business, non-profit or school located within the Air District’s nine county jurisdiction is encouraged to register and apply for the Spare the Air Leadership Award.

The award will be featured at the upcoming 2017 Acterra Business Environmental Awards ceremony, one of the Bay Area's oldest and most prestigious environmental recognition programs. The awards honor the accomplishments of organizations with innovative sustainable programs and recognize environmental leaders by providing an educational forum that increases awareness and the adoption of sustainable operating practices.

Applications are now being accepted at www.acterra.org/bea. The deadline to apply is Dec. 9, 2016.

Acterra is a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit based in Palo Alto that brings people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet.The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is the regional agency responsible for protecting air quality in the nine-county Bay Area.
