Man Found Fatally Shot Near Concord Shopping Center: Police

"Officers found a 26-year-old man who appears to have been killed from several gunshot wounds."

CONCORD, CA — A homicide investigation was underway into a fatal shooting reported early Monday morning in Concord, police said in a news release.

Officers responded just after midnight to a report that a man was down in the roadway near a shopping center in the 1100 block of Concord Avenue.

"Officers found a 26-year-old man who appears to have been killed from several gunshot wounds," police said in the news release.

Detectives were actively investigating the death Monday, which included trying to track down a dark-colored SUV that witnesses described seeing, police said.

The victim's name was not disclosed and police said no further information would be released at this time.
