ANTIOCH, CA — Two suspects in an armed robbery at the Target on Lone Tree Way and Slatten Ranch Road were arrested as they tried to leave, and a man who was shot during the incident was expected to survive, the Antioch Police Department said in a news release.

News video showed an area of the Target parking lot cordoned off by yellow tape. There was a crashed car inside the taped-off area, which was surrounded by multiple police cars.

At the entrance to the store, a man was on the ground suffering from a single gunshot wound, Donleavy said.

Hill said the fire department was initially requested to stage outside of the store for a possible medical emergency.

"At 2:12 p.m. when we were on our way there, we were cleared (by police) to enter the store," Hill said. "At 2:17 p.m. our EMS supervisor reported one person down with a gunshot wound."

The patient was rushed Code 3 —lights and sirens on— at 2:28 p.m. to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Hill said.

The shooting victim was expected to survive his injuries, police said.

As for Garcia and Meza-Morales, they were booked into the Martinez County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
