Swarm Of Concord Bees Is Eradicated
A swarm of aggressive bees that was threatening residents of a Concord neighborhood was eradicated Saturday night, police said Sunday.
CONCORD - A swarm of aggressive bees that was threatening residents of a Concord neighborhood was eradicated Saturday night, police said Sunday.
On Saturday around 11:50 a.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Hitchcock Drive, regarding a report of a large swarm of bees that were aggressively attacking people and animals.
A postal carrier and the owner of a home where the hive was located both went to a hospital and were released after being treated for stings.

To remove the bees, police enlisted the help of bee experts from the Mt. Diablo Beekeepers Association, according to police.

Saturday night, a beekeeper with the association laid a temporary hive with bait to attract the dislocated bees and destroy them so they will no longer be a threat to people or animals.
Sunday morning, an officer returned to Hitchcock Drive and spoke with homeowner, who said that most of the remaining bees had been eradicated and that only a few bees remained in the area.
