The Week Ahead: Have a Hot Dog with the Concord Police

Here's what's happening this week in Concord, from Aug. 5 to Aug. 11, 2013, including National Night Out and more.

Can you believe it's August already? Soon the kids will be back to school and the stores will start decorating for the holiday season. But there are still plenty of things to do in Concord to enjoy the sunshine and easy breezy days of summer. See below for what's coming up in Concord this week.

National Night Out

Community members are invited to join Concord police for the annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and celebrate "America's Night Out Against Crime." The event takes place in Todos Santos Plaza from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will include free food, activities and live music on the plaza stage from East Bay Mudd, as well as performances from bands playing throughout downtown Concord starting at 8 p.m. The evening will include SWAT and K9 demonstrations from the Concord police. Click here for more information.

Help Decide the Future of the Library

Concord residents are invited to a special town hall meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Concord Library Meeting Room to share their ideas on how the library can better serve the community. The Concord Library is located at 2900 Salvio Street.

The Fundamentals in Todos Santos Plaza

This nine-piece band will perform party favorites at a free concert in downtown Concord on Thursday, Aug. 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of the Music and Market Series. See the full Music and Market schedule here.

Clayton Rib Cook-Off

Local BBQ masters will compete for bragging rights and cash prizes at this free annual event, held at the Historic Clayton Club Saloon at 6096 Main. St. Clayton on Saturday, Aug. 10. There will be live music, food and drinks as the Clayton Business and Community Association holds their annual membership drive and community fellowship party.
