Clayton Rib Cook-Off

Saturday, Aug. 10, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
The 4th Annual Rib Cook-Off competition hosted by the Clayton Business and Community Association takes place at the Clayton Club Saloon and includes live music, drinks, hamburgers, hot dogs and ribs, ribs and more ribs.

Taste of Concord

Sunday, Aug. 11, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The "Taste of Concord" event is held annually as a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club and a way to encourage on-foot exploration of downtown Concord's restaurants and businesses. This year's shindig promises to be an afternoon of entertainment, food and activities for the whole family. Sunvalley Mall and Concord High Farmers' Markets

The new farmers' market at Sunvalley Mall runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and the market at Concord High School is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.

New Movies at the Drive-In

Movies showing at the West Wind Solano drive-in this weekend include this week's new release, the children's animation "Planes" and the comedy "We're the Millers," as well as "Despicable Me 2," and  "The Smurfs 2." See the schedule here.
