The city of Coronado congratulates Barbara Rigsby, a library accounting technician, who was named 2012 Coronado Employee of the Year.
Rigsby was recognized in March as an Employee of the Quarter, qualifying her for the annual honor. Rigsby was in the company of other recent Employees of the Quarter: Jennifer Abalos, a human resources technician, Brandon Matey, a firefighter/paramedic and Jose “Pepe” Cazares Jr., a public services mechanic.
Rigsby, who has worked for the city since 1995, was nominated for Employee of the Quarter by several co-workers who said she exemplifies the highest standard of customer service and that she has a smile and a kind word for staff, vendors and visitors alike. They also said she is an asset to not only the library but to the Coronado community as well.

The award was announced at the annual Employee Recognition Event on Jan. 11. The program was established by City Manager Blair King, who wanted to recognize and honor employees who have made an outstanding contribution through a project, program, action, idea, effort, or service to the community.
The first Employee of the Quarter award was given in 2010.
