Residents in the immediate vicinity of Naval Air Station North Island may experience an increase of air traffic on runway 11/29 located at the northwest end of Coronado Beach, from Monday to mid-February 2013.
The traffic increase on runway 11/29 is due to runway 18/36 being closed for recurring pavement maintenance. Â
During this time, flight patterns will be modified, resulting in all air traffic using the second runway. The needed pavement improvements will create safer conditions for flight and ground crews.
The Navy recognizes the importance of being good neighbors with the local communities and strives to abate noise from air traffic when possible.
All noise abatement complaints can be directed to 619-545-8233 or by submitting an online Noise Complaint Form at www.cnic.navy.mil/Coronado.
All other questions can be directed to Naval Base Coronado Public Affairs Office at 619-545-8136.
