Beach Warning: Watch for Rip Currents, Strong Swells This Weekend
The conditions should begin late Thursday. High tides are expected to exceed 7 feet, according to forecast.

Long-period south-southwest swells will produce dangerous rip currents and high surf from La Jolla to Point Loma starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend, meteorologists said.
The highest surf and strongest rip currents will occur Thursday night through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, which said 3 to 6- foot surf, with local sets up to 8 feet, was likely.
The agency also warned high tides will rise above 7 feet during the evenings from Saturday through Tuesday. The conditions will affect North County beaches too.

“The high tides will combine with the continuing south-southwest swells to possibly bring minor tidal overflow to south and southwest-facing beaches, mainly for Saturday and Sunday evenings,” the NWS said in a beach hazards statement.
