Breathe It In: Coronado Earns Clean Air Award

Communities Against Substance Abuse presented the Coronado City Council at its Tuesday, June 3, meeting with the California Clean Air Award for its smoke-free public space ordinance, which went into effect January 1. 

The City Council in October 2013 approved a comprehensive second-hand smoke ordinance, which eliminated smoking on most public property in the City. 

The City previously prohibited smoking in its parks and at its beaches. Lorenzo Higley, director of Tobacco Policy & Programs with the Communities Against Substance Abuse, and Narinder Dhaliwal from California's Clean Air Project, presented the City with a plaque.
