Citizens Sought For Juvenile Justice Commission

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – The San Diego County Superior Court put a call out Wednesday to fill two vacancies on the county's juvenile justice commission, a citizen's body that examines the operations and administration of the local juvenile justice system.

The deadline to apply is April 12 to fill the open seats on the state- mandated, court-appointed commission, which conducts annual inspections of Juvenile Hall and other jail facilities, inquires into the operation of county- run group homes, and makes recommendations to the juvenile court's presiding judge.

The selection process for the San Diego County Juvenile Justice Commission includes an application, an interview with a current JJC commissioner, and a final interview with the presiding judge of the juvenile court. Prospective commissioners must also undergo a background check and fingerprint scan.

Commissioners are paid a stipend of $25 per meeting, with a maximum of two meetings held per month.
