Coronado 100 Year Anniversary Exhibit at Coronado Library
Did you know that Girl Scouts West of the Rocky Mountains all began in Coronado? That's right, Troop #1 was founded in March of 1917.

Juliette Lowe founded Girl Scouts in Savannah, Georgia in 2012. A mere 5 years later the first troop West of the Rocky Mountains was founded right here in Coronado/ March 2017 marks the 100th Anniversary of Troop #1 which has been continuously active throughout the past century on the island. The troop participates annually in things such as beach bonfires, parades, international educational bazaars, campouts, and of course, Girl Scout cookie sales which allows the troop to donate proceeds to causes of their choice as well as participate in special programs.
The Coronado Library has generously allowed Girl Scouts to be the feature exhibition this month. Please stop by and take a walk through scouting history and see period uniforms, antique camping tools and many other vintage artifacts that beautifully tell the tale of the Girl Scout Way. Special thanks to San Diego - Imperial Girl Scout headquarters and Candace Hooper, the library exhibit specialist for their assistance.
