Coronado in Bloom: 95th Annual Flower Show Comes Back This Weekend

Coronado residents' favorite festivities are making a comeback this weekend!

CORONADO, CA - It's about to get a lot more colorful in Coronado with the return of the community's annual flower show this weekend.

The 95th Annual Coronado Flower Show is set for this Saturday and Sunday. The largest tented Flower Show in the U.S., the event is Coronado's longest running tradition. This year's theme? "Our Family Tree ... Out on a Limb."

Although setup and preparation for the festivities began in Spreckels Park on Monday, the Flower Show will be held there — 601 Orange Ave. — from 1 to 5 p.m. on April 8, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 9. The two-day event includes landscape displays, a variety of floral competitions, educational lectures and demonstrations, live bandstand entertainment, food, a beer and wine garden with locally crafted brews, and shopping. There’s also a Home Front competition which awards exceptional home and business gardens throughout the city.

Residents can expect to see “No Parking, Tow Away” signs posted on portions of Orange Avenue, Sixth Street and C Avenue around the park to restrict parking before and during the show.

Two new portable restroom trailers have been added to accommodate the event's ever-growing popularity. The trailers feature colorful wraps depicting early Coronado rail cars and the old Tent City carousel, according to a community update.
