Coronado Makes Travel Channel's Top 10 List of So Cal Beaches
Travel Channel shows Coronado the love again. The cable network once named the community Southern California's top beach.

“Coronado's beaches have been its fortune,” so says the Travel Channel, in naming the community among Southern California's Top 10 beaches.
It's another among many kudos for Coronado's famous beach, which skims the shoreline from North Island Naval Air Station on one end, past the Hotel del Coronado and Shores condos on to more Navy land.
In between is a long stretch of sand that attracts people worldwide or just from throughout San Diego for all the things you'd expect – sunbathing, volleyball, dog walking. And some you wouldn't: sanctioned – or rogue - weddings.
Dr. Beach embraced Coronado as the place with the nation's best beach in 2012, while Parents magazine ranked the community as the second best beach town in the U.S.
Even Buzzfeed, in its “27 Reasons Why San Diego Might Be Heaven on Earth” piece, mentioned the beach five times, without specifically name-checking any local beach. Surely they meant Coronado, right?
La Jolla Cove was the other San Diego-area honoree, while other SoCal beaches singled out by the Travel Channel include Newport Beach, Crystal Cove State Park and Laguna Beach in Orange County, and Santa Monica and Venice Beach in Los Angeles.
Is there a travel award Coronado hasn't gotten yet you think the community deserves? Tell us in the comments.
