Coronado Seeking Volunteers for City Commissions

There are currently four vacancies on three Coronado commissions.

CORONADO, CA – Coronado is currently seeking volunteers for city commissions.

There are currently four vacancies, two on the city’s Cultural Arts Commission, one on the Parks and Recreation Commission and one on the Transportation Commission.

The Cultural Arts Commission provides recommendations and actions to foster the development and enjoyment of performing, visual, cultural and other arts in the city. The term for one of the available positions will expire on Dec. 31, 2017, while the term for the other position will expire Dec. 31, 2018. Regular meetings are held at 4:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Council Chambers, 1825 Strand Way.

The Parks and Recreation Commission acts as a liaison between the Coronado community and the Director of Recreation Services. The available position has a three-year term, which is set to expire Jan. 31, 2020. Regular meetings are held at 3:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the Council Chambers.

The Transportation Commission works with city staff and interested citizens to explore potential short-term and long-term methods to reduce the impact of traffic congestion, investigates methods to calm and slow traffic, promotes convenient and cost-effective mass transportation, and seeks ways to decrease traffic volume through a variety of techniques. The term for the available position will expire Feb. 28, 2018. Regular meetings are held at 3 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month in the Council Chambers.
