
“Ticket to Ride” is the theme of this year’s Coronado Flower Show, to be held in Spreckels Park (Orange Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets) on Saturday (1–5 p.m.) and Sunday (10-4 p.m.)
The Coronado Flower Show is the largest tented flower show in the nation andfeatures landscape displays, horticultural and floral competitions, lectures and food and entertainment. It is produced by the Coronado Floral Association, a 501 (c) 3 corporationin conjunction with the city of Coronado.
Local gardeners will display their bounty and floral designers will share their finest creations. Events include:

- Gardeners will be able to purchase plants and flowers at the Saturday morning Plant Sale (7:30 a.m – noon);
- A food pavilion and a separate beer and wine garden inside the show open at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
- Entertainment on the bandstand plays throughout both days. Awards ceremony, Sunday at 3 p.m.
- A Saturday night gala for Floral Association members takes place on theshow grounds from 6–9 p.m.
Admission is $5, adults; free to children, 12 and under.Coronado Floral Association members receive two admissions with a $25 annual memberships, which are sold at the door.

- Backyard Barn Owls – Bert and Sharon Kersey, presenters, Saturday, April 20, 1–2 p.m.
- Beekeeping – Eric Robinson is a founder and vice president of the San Diego Beekeeping Society. The club has attracted more than 700 new members over the past three years, Saturday, April 20; 3–4 p.m.
- Roses, Roses – Gary Bulman is a consulting rosarian with the San Diego and American Rose Society and grows 300 roses in his Escondido garden, Sunday, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
