Former Navy Admiral Sentenced To 18 Months In Prison: Report

Breaking: The Admiral's sentence is tied to one of the largest corruption investigations in naval history.

SAN DIEGO — A former Navy admiral was sentenced to 18 months in prison Wednesday for his part in a huge corruption scandal, according to a report in the Washington Post. Robert J. Gilbeau is the highest-ranking officer to be convicted so far in the investigation.

Gilbeau is the first active-duty admiral to be convicted of a felony. An estimated 30 other admirals remain under investigation for possible criminal activity relating to the case, according to the report.

It's all related to ties to a man known as "Fat Leonard," a Naval contractor who has pleaded guilty to bribes related to cash, prostitution, and lavish hotel stays.
