Funeral Procession for Fallen Navy SEAL to Make Way Through Coronado
A public viewing area will be set up Friday along 6th Street, where Coronado police will escort the procession for Charles H. Keating IV.
CORONADO, CA: Members of the public may pay their respects for a fallen Coronado-based Navy SEAL when his funeral procession make its way Friday through Coronado, the city announced.
Beginning at noon in the 600 block of C Avenue, where parking will be restricted, Coronado police will escort roughly 150 vehicles from a private Coronado service for Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Charles "Charlie" H. Keating IV, en route to Fort Rosencrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, according to Janine Zúñiga of the Coronado city manager's office.
A public viewing corridor will be set up along 6th Street as the motorcade travels west toward Naval Air Station North Island. On Alameda Boulevard, the procession will head north to 4th Street and then toward the San Diego-Coronado Bridge.

According to military officials, Keating was killed in combat May 3 in a battle with Islamic State of Iraq.
At the request of Navy officials, Zúñiga said, city of Coronado firefighters and lifeguards will honor Keating by posting colors on a fire-truck ladder above the procession route, at the corner of Sixth Street and H Avenue.

Additionally, Coronado police are assisting with traffic control at a memorial service that will take place before noon on Thursday at Tidelands Park. The memorial is limited in attendance and parking impacts are expected, according to Zúñiga.
A ceremonial U.S. flag will be hung at the toll plaza during the memorial events.
