The community will host the Islander Invitational Golf Tournament July 3, ahead of the city's famous list of July 4th activities.
The city has long been a draw for its famous parade and fireworks display, but  U-T San Diego points out that insiders in Coronado have their own celebrations as many locals return to their roots for the holiday.
The report also lists an impressive array of one-time Coronado High School athletes who have succeeded in their sports during their time in the community.
Their accomplishments will be marked, along with those of many others, as the school celebrates its centennial in the coming year.
