Military & Veterans Dining Deals: Memorial Day 2019

CALIFORNIA – Several restaurants throughout the Golden State are offering specials to military and veterans for Memorial Day 2019, a holiday created 151 years ago by former Union general John Alexander Logan to remember soldiers who gave their lives to defend and serve their country.

Valid ID is often required, and participation on Monday, May 27 may vary by eatery location.

DINING DEALS:

Boston Market: This deal is for everyone – not just vets and military – but it is a good one. From May 24 to 27, Boston Market will offer a $29.99 meal deal that includes a whole rotisserie chicken, a half-rack of ribs, four sides and four pieces of cornbread. Find location near you.

Fogo de Chão: All veterans and active-duty personnel get 50-percent off their entire meal on May 27 at all U.S. Fogo de Chão locations. Logan’s Roadhouse: Get a free American Roadhouse Meal if you’re active-duty military or a veteran. The free meals are available May 27 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at participating locations. See details. Check here with your nearby location.

McCormick & Schmick’s: Gold Star parents and spouses, veterans, and active members of the military and National Guard get a complimentary lunch or dinner on May 27. See the menu. Locations in Anaheim, Roseville, San Francisco, San Jose and San Diego.

Outback Steakhouse: The chain offers a 10-percent discount off the checks of servicemembers, police officers, firefighters and first responders. Valid ID is required. See details.

Presidio Social Club: This is not a deal, per se, but for those seeking an unusual dining spot in a former military barrack, this restaurant, in San Francisco Presidio National Park, will be open Memorial Day from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Presidio Social Club's Americana cuisine includes such classics as meatloaf, PSC gruyere cheese toast, chicken & liver duck paté, and a completely in-house maintained barrel-aged cocktail program. Rubio’s: Military and veterans eat free on Memorial Day with adult entree purchase. Coupon here is needed.

Texas de Brazil: Veterans and active-duty military get 50 percent off on Memorial Day, plus 20 percent off for up to eight guests dining with them.

RETAIL DEALS:

This year, major national retailers are also planning sales, including Target, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, The Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Target shoppers will find sales of up to 30 percent off patio and home furniture while Walmart is offering up to 40 percent off online products ranking from pools to swing sets to electronics. Dick’s, meanwhile, is offering $10 off for every $50 spent, up to $30 off.

Home Depot consumers will find sales of up to 40 percent off on certain ovens, refrigerators, washing machines and patio furniture.
