Naval Base Coronado Ranks Among Tops at Armed Forces Triathlon
Three locals, including two from Coronado bases, placed among the race's top finishers.
Naval Base Coronado was well represented Saturday June 1 when the Navy took the top men's and women's team prizes at the Armed Forces Triathlon in Point Magu, according to Navy.mil.
Naval Base Ventura County hosted the event, in which Lt. Thomas Brown, from the Naval Amphibious Base, took the bronze in the men's division and Lt. Cmdr. Colleen O'Connor, from Naval Air Station North Island, took silver in the women's division.
Another local,  Lt. j.g. Derek Oskutis, who works with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 11 in San Diego, finished fourth in the men's race.
Teams were also entered from the Army, Air Force and Marines. Individuals from the Coast Guard competed.
