Reminder: Alarms Will Ring Out Friday, Lane Closure Near Bridge Sunday

City officials want you to know that Friday's alarm testing is routine, and some extra time should be allowed if you're leaving Coronado Sunday morning.

The city has warned of one thing that could alarm you Friday and another that might annoy you Sunday if you aren't prepared.

Coronado will test its community-wide emergency alarm system at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Just like the alert that interrupts your favorite radio or TV programs, be aware: It's only a test.

The city has three such alarms, and found last year during the routine annual April test that two needed repairs.

On Sunday, motorists should be aware of a lane closure on the approach to the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, and plan accordingly.

The eastbound closure will take place from 5 a.m to noon Sunday so Caltrans can apply a seal to the left lane.
